Who Would It Be My Mom or My Baby Brother?" by Tatiana Ramirez

There she is, panicking eating her breakfast because of the stress she has. She doesn’t know what to do! She’s upset my dad tells her it’s going to be okay but he wasn’t exactly right. So the doctors went into the room and told my mom and dad that, it’s either my mom or my baby brother that was going to die so my mom and dad started cry so badly.
I just stood there doing nothing, thinking about what was going to happen. So my dad went to where he works at, and brought my mom some pills or so from his work. So she drank them twice a day it was going better but when the baby was about to be born the doctor said she had to get a c-section so that way no pressure goes on the baby, so my mom was in pain, yes, but it was worth the risk. I heard her scream, felt her pain so much that I could have no longer taken it. So I went home with my dad.
When I went back to the hospital there he was in my mom’s arms.I was so happy so were my parents. I had told my mom that that, that day was the happiest day of my LIFE!! At first I was so scared I was way too young to see my mom or my brother die. So from then and on I thank god for having my mom and brother.

"The Broken Arm" by Kimberly Valle

He was running and in a second I saw him on the floor. I ran up to him and told him if he was ok but I saw my little five year old cousin David crying and his face all red. It was a bright sunny day in the fall and me and my cousin where in the park racing each other there was a lovely couple talking and a dog right next to me and my cousin. My cousin was running and I saw him trip on a rock and he fell when I saw that he had fallen I ran to him but in my mind I told myself that he was ok and he will get up but he didn’t. I didn’t know what to do I didn’t have a phone with me and I was so scared that I froze and told myself ok I have to do something I can’t just leave him here like nothing happened so I took one last look at him and I ran home to go get my mom. When I got home she was cooking and told me where my little cousin was I told her what had happened she went with me back to the park and was telling my little cousin if he could move his hand he said no that it hurt. My mom took my little cousin to the hospital and when I went to go see him I told him what did the doctors told him and he said that he broke his arm and that he’s going to have to but a cast. I felt sorry for him but he said it was cool because he got to choose the color of cast he wanted and all his friends got to singed it.

"A Story I Will Never Forget" by Enrique Amaya

We were upside down inside the car, my arm broken, my dad screaming because he broke his leg. On a bright morning we were going back home when we turned a corner when a car hit us and we flipped over spinning out of control then we hit a light post the air bags deployed and then all u can here was the sound of birds. I became conscious again and all I can hear is my dad screaming in pain because his leg had broken and the sound of a siren getting closer but what was strange is I could not feel my arm so I assumed it was broken the ambulance came shortly and took my dad away leaving me with a police officer. I looked at the car in amazement the whole side where the car was hit was ripped to shreds. I had to wait for another ambulance to come and pick me up in the mean time the firefighters were flipping the car over so it could be put on the tow truck and take it away. When they managed to get the car right side up the roof had been crumpled up. The ambulance came and asked me a lot of questions about how I was feeling they gave me some papers and told me to give them to my dad. They took me off to the hospital to look at me arm because I didn’t feel anything no pain no nothing  all I remember is they took me in a bed I looked to my side and on the walls there animal designs I felt sleepy so I fell asleep next thing I know I wake up with a cast on my dad watching TV right next to me, the doctor finally came in and told my dad that he would be able to walk again but he could not run and as for me I won’t be able to bend my hand all the way back we finally got home and for some reason my mom still had not heard but she worked in the same hospital that we were in but she soon found out and was relieved that we were ok.

"The Last Look" by Andreya Prado

We were all in the living room talking in front of a flower frame that my mom loved. The boys were in their pajamas sitting in the hall way. I was also in my pajamas feeding my little cousin and he was in a cute blue little outfit. My mom and aunt were sitting right next to me and my grandma was on the other size looking at us. My mom, aunt, and grandma were all talking and I was just looking at the baby making him laugh and giggle. My aunt turns around and starts talking to me and telling me how was school and how my life was and I was answering her. My aunt went to the kitchen to get him another bottle, when she came back she gave me the bottle and she was still talking to me when all of a sudden she looks at the baby and she tells me “Let me see the baby?” I give her the baby and she starts freaking out saying that the baby was not breathing he stopped breathing for like 1 minute or so. Then I look at him again and I ask my aunt to give me the baby, she gives me the baby and I put my face right next to his chest and I hear him continue breathing so I tell my aunt and she stops crying. She gives me the bottle to put it back in his mouth and I put it in his mouth. We all continue to talk and we see my dad walk in the room and he sits down next to my mom. They start talking when all of a sudden I can’t feel my little cousin breathing so I grab him and put my face next to his chest and I can’t feel him breathing I call his name over and over again, but while I’m doing that his eyes were still open. After a few seconds later his eyes start closing and I start to cry and I hold him even tighter. My whole family begins to cry because right when he closed his eyes we couldn’t do anything about. My mom called the ambulance and they came in a hurry, my aunt and grandma got in and left. The next day they call us and told us they couldn’t do anything about it and my aunt decided to have his funeral in Arizona. We all went and said our goodbyes to Fabian.

"Broken Arm" by Ernesto Ceja

It was an afternoon going to the hospital because I had broken my hand. When I arrived at the hospital and the doctors said good thing you didn’t hit your head or if I had hit my head I wasn’t going to remember nothing and I was so scared. I was really scared because maybe if it was bad I was going to have surgery and don’t like to have surgery. They put me in bed that they have to clean my arm so I could have surgery. Then after that they took me to take x-rays and I was so scared because they were going to see what was wrong with my hand and if I need surgery or not. Then if I had to get surgery I wouldn’t go to Mexico. I really did wanted to go to Mexico because all my cousins were going to go and it had been a long time seen I seen them. My dad and my sister were all nervous and I was so nervous waiting for the results and when the doctors came in the results we were even more nervous, and the doctors said, “That it was just misplace.” The doctors told us that I could go to Mexico and just I had to wear a thing around my hand for two weeks and I didn’t like that because it was the whole time we were going to stay at Mexico. I was happy that I didn’t have to needed surgery or something more badly. When I arrived at home everybody was happy that nothing bad happened. All my aunts and cousins were waiting for me to see what had happen to me and when everybody saw that nothing happened they were happy that I was able to go to Mexico.

"Pronounced Dead" by Kaydee Harding

It had happened so sudden. I was looking at him from the front row. He was on his death bed. People everywhere, talking about the tragedy while a few babies cried. My mom was sitting next to me, she was crying, but I couldn’t hear her. All I could hear her do was sniff, like when she’s sad. Almost her entire face was red. Like my mom, I couldn’t help but cry.
About a week before, my family and I went to Old Navy to pick out our American Flag shirts like we had done for the past years. We had finished choosing our shirts and we were now waiting in line at the register. My mom got a call from someone. It was my grandma. My mom got worried and asked her, “Mom, why are you crying?” She handed the phone to my dad. I couldn’t hear what she was saying because he went outside to talk to her. He came in crying. He whispered something into my mom’s ear. She emidiatly started to cry, took my youngest brother in her arms and went out to the car. My dad got all of the shirts, and told us to get in the car and he’ll tell us what’s going on. We got in the car, dad looked back still crying. In a quiet voice he said,” Grandpa Rudd is dead.” My older brother Tevan and I emidiatly started to cry. The three younger ones didn’t know what to do.
When we got home, my grandma came over and told us how he died. She said” When I get the call, I went to the hospital as fast as I could. When I got there, they leaded me straight to him. As soon as I saw him, I rushed to his side. I asked him what happened and he told me that he hurt my back when I fell off of my motorcycle. Some people found me and called 911. Then I came here. The day after, I was holding his hand and he said that he loved my hand and me, just not then because he was in so much pain. A little while after that, the doctor came in, noticed that his eyes were closed and thought that he was sleeping. He looked at the monitor and pronounced him dead.
When we arrived at the burial site, the wind was blowing as if he were there. I heard my brother ask my mom, “Mom, are we going to be able to see him again?” My mom told him,” Someday, sweetheart. Someday.” Now, it doesn’t ever feel the same without him.

"My First Day of School" by Ricardo Mancera

I walked  into the building I have never seen before . my stomach as nervous and as sick as it can be . all of these faces  who are complitelly new to me.
A few days after I went  NorthWest my familly and I had moved from West Valley to Rose Park. Thoughts of old friends like my friend of nine years Donavin Santiago , my friend Brandon and his brother Fred,an old memories like the park when we had our football game . I remember that game so clearlly my team was winning by a point by friend Donavin passes me the ball, Im running through everyone on the oppiste team then my friend Paul’s brother comes out of no where and tackels me of so hard it knocks out my air. All of these memories that I will never experience again gone.
On the car ride to my new home I look at my mom ,she tells me “don’t worry you’l make new friends In time”. I knew she was just saying that to be nice, but I knew she just said that to be nice.
Unfortionatly for me it was summer vacation and I still had a ton of days left tillthe big day that would make history . the frist few days of living in a new house was actually really really annoying, because we had to move all the things from the boxes we put them in . I really hated to put carry the couch and the rest of the furniture into the house . days pass and I begain to watch more and more tv than usual.  days lead up to the frist days of school and I begin to get more nervous and paranoid.
Finally ,the day has come ,the frist day of school I am as nervous as can be. On the way to school I relized that yesterday I was a sixth grader for the last time. We get closer to the building that i will soon call “school”. We park on the west side of the school and I relized that I will no longer be a kid , I relized that I will no longer see any of my childhood friends anymore. I relized that I was a teenager.
I walked into the building I have never seen before .my stomch as nervous as can be…

"Never the Same" by Maria Gaeta

As I was walking home from school, I got a text message. It was from my little sister. I just thought she was going to annoy me, but she was telling me grandpa was in the hospital. There was nothing I can do about that. I live here and he lives there. I was thinking about my grandpa on my way home. I just kept thinking that he will be ok. But when you’re an older person people keep thinking death.  I remember seeing my dad with sadness in his eyes. And my mom was pretty upset too. We get a phone call about two or three days later. It was good news; my grandpa was back at his house. That was the best news to my father. I was happy. But then about a couple of days later. He goes back to the hospital. I knew this time it was not going to be good news. My dad was sad again. My aunt was telling us how my grandfather kept talking and seeing death. That was a little strange. It kind of seemed like his life was going to be over. Sadly about a day or two, he passes away.  She got a phone call about one or two in the morning.  I didn’t know until I was heading out the door to go to school, I heard my mom talking to my brother. She had sadness in her voice, like she was crying. But I kind of guessed that the news was going to be terrible. My mom saw me and I was acting like I was not listening to their conversation. I wanted her to tell me. When she was about to tell me she stopped for a little, like she was thinking for the right words to say. Like telling a little kid something bad or sad. She looked at me and started to talk. “Grandpa died, he died this morning,” I stared at her, trying to keep my balance. I just did not know what to say. Or react. So I just headed out the door and left to school. I felt like crying I felt the tears coming, I did not want anybody to look at me like this. All I could do was smile, like I always do.  The whole day I kept thinking of my grandpa. I never realized how much I was going to miss him. My home was lonely and quite. It was like nobody lived there, it really killed everybody’s mood. Especially my father’s.  I never thought that it was going to be like this. Not this sad.

"The Basketball Champions Comes To An End" by Dallyn Kenner

It was the end of the game.  Fans cheering, clapping, and suddenly the buzzer went off.
This game was played at Bountiful High School and I remember in between the bleachers was a huge, gynourmous B for Bountiful.  The color of the basketball court was red and tan.  It was our championship basketball game. It wasn’t much of a game, we lost by 20. It was very depressing.  It was the Utah Hustle versus the Utah Hoops.  My team was the Utah Hustle, we had seven players on our team.  Our whole team usually gets togeather on the weekends or breaks off of school and plays basketball at a church.  Then usually after that we go hangout get in the hot tub and play games. I don’t know the Hoops very well but they are a good team.  I remember one time I had the ball and I had an assist and the crowd went crazy like a lion chasing its prey and eating it. That’s how crazy they were like.  The coach told me
“Dallyn, get the ball back for us!”
“Yes coach I will try” I said.  I stole the ball and I went for a fast break and the coach was in a good mood even though we were losing by a lot.  The coach wanted someone out there who would run even though they were getting smacked so I told the coach
“Put me in coach, im ready ill give you all I have!”  It was the end of the game and we came back but then the Hoops went on a run and we lost by 17.  The coach was yelling at us and our whole team was depressed that we lost because it was the championship game.  At the end of the game we gave the Hoops a cheer and gave them high fives while they were celebrating we were depressed and sad.  This lost made our team want to practice more and get better at what we like to do.  I hope this story encoureged you to go harder when you are in a very bad moment.  “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would, some make it happen” Micheal Jordan.

"My Crisis"

There he laid, crying and so confused on what just happened. His face was lost and it seemed like he has seen a ghost. We just kept watching him for the longest time.
There we were us 3, Michael was ready to go down that big street. Me and Nicole were so scared but then we started down. Michael went the fastest because he was on a skateboard then Nicole on a bike and me on a scooter. We were almost to the bottom and then suddenly a very small rock was in Michaels path, we tried to scream to him but it was to late. Michael went flipping off his skateboard and on to the ice cold ground. Michael started to cry and ran up the hill. We both followed, We got to the house and told my mom what happened. We all hurried up into the car and drove the mercy hospital. My mom made us wait and it got late so we just went home.
Its 2:00 in the morning when they finally came in. we run to them, we ask my Michael what happened and if he was ok. Michael answered yes and started explaining everything. He said the rock hit him in the face and broke his cheek bone. The doctor also said that if any more damage would happened to that cheek then he probably wouldn’t have feeling in that cheek anymore. Then he tells us even more bad news, the news was that he broke his ribs and wouldn’t be able to skateboard for a little while. Michael was relived because he was too scared to even try going on another skateboard. Michael never again even tried getting on a skateboard because it wasn’t his first accident on one and he swore to himself he wouldn’t.

"A Trip to the Hospital" by Ronnie Arias

He’s at the hospital lying on the bed looking pale and scared they said an inch more he would hit his lung. The hospital was so clean and there were lots of people walking by the room then they change my brother rooms to a resting room and how he got it is that he was jumping from couch to couch and we had a metal fence because my dog was a puppy and he was not house trained. We flipped the fence around because it kept falling so when he jumped he missed and hit the fence and got the wound. Then he had to go to the hospital and he was scared to death and he did not know what was happening because the doctor told us that he had  to use a tube take out blood left were he got hit and a inch more would hit his lung and that’s how he got his wound. And he was at the hospital for three days.

"What Happened to Me When I Was a Little Girl"

"The Accident" by Raul Castrejon

About 2 years ago me my mom, and my sister were driving. There was a lot of traffic and we had to go really slow because if we didn’t we would crash! It was a really long road and there was a statue of arches going over the road with a eagle standing on the arches. Since there was a lot of traffic you had to go slow. But my mom accelerated to fast and we crashed into a green- blueish car. When we crashed my sister started crying because she didn’t know what was going on. She was only about 4 or 5 and that was the first time that she had ever been in a car crash. Since we crashed and there was already a lot of traffic we made even more traffic!!! Since my mom didn’t speak English I had to ask the man that we crashed into if he had already called the police. And he said yes. But the police took a long time to get there so there was a lot of traffic. So when the police officer came he told us to move where we would make traffic. So we moved to the side of the road and the police officer asked my mom and the person what happened. My mom told the police officer that it was her fault and the other person said the same thing so the police officer had to give my mom a ticket.

"One Day" by Mark Flores

One day I was out side of my house and I was walking home and then I saw my cat all crust in the road then I saw a car with the tiers all in blood and then I went to go see my cat and it was all squish. "My Cousin's Crash" by Hassan Hussein

My story is about me and my cousin. We were at the park on a sunny summer day. We were just chilling, but then my cousin said lets go back home. So we went back to our blue Camry that my cousin was driving , so he goes in and starts the car so I decide to go through the other door but then I tripped and fall then my cousin was backing up the car then he drives over my foot it hurt f**king bad. My cousin came out and helped me up and he put me in the car. He drives me home and my dad took me to the hospital and they put a cast on me and I was in the cast for about 3 weeks but after I got out of the cast my cousin got in a car crash he didn’t die but he is in a wheel chair but only for a month and that made me not want to drive a car.

"Death"

We all had a moment of silence… I walked up to the coffin to take a last look before they closed it. Everyone was sad and quiet. It was dark outside; it looked like it was going to rain. All the streets were quiet, there weren’t any people around. All of a sudden it got windy. As I was getting closer to the coffin to take a last look at him the coffin shut all by itself. Everyone got scared because of the laud noise. They tried to open the coffin back up, but they just couldn’t open it. I started to look for my uncle. I asked him what had happened he said, “The coffin shut all of a sudden by itself and we can’t open it back up”. No one knew what to do anymore. After about 30 minutes had passed they tried to open it again.

"Cholo and Sleepy" by Lilibet Farias

We were in the kitchen with my brother and my sister. The table is like wood but my mom put something over it so it won’t look weird or nothing. My kitchen is decorated with fruit stuff because my mom likes those things that have to do with fruits.
My bother Edgar got up the table and he went outside to turn on his friend’s car. My brother Edgar was a gangster.

"Bad/Sad Times"

Ok the first thing I will write to is what my story is about before you read it. My story is about my grandpa who passed away on Christmas Eve now that I told you that you can read my story. He lay there dead… not breathing and, I’m standing there just looking. He’s white like a ghost, cold, and lips of blue and purple. As I stand me wonder to myself is he in a better place or not. I miss him I want, wish he could come back, but in my mind my heart I know he won’t. Also I think to myself should I cry or just stand there amazed to myself. It’s like feeling if you see someone and then they just float away. I was shocked cause I saw him one day and the next he was gone I miss you grandpa. I’ll see you soon I said. Then I heard the news.

"There Was a Road"

There was a road, covered in black slushy ice, my eyes were closed , ‘cause I was sleeping , in the back seat , once I hear my uncle yell “ohhhh s***!”, my eyes were opened , I heard loud noises and I realized the car was flipping over.

"Squished Head"

Her head was squished under the tire. Her mom was yelling and screaming. All I saw the whole floor was blood. I just remembered a few hours ago we just got back from the park and everything was fine.

"The Scariest Moment of My Life" by Samantha Rodriguez

I walked into the room, scared, terrified, and worried. I’m looking at him with all those tubes all over his face barely being able to see his face. I look over at my mom. She’s talking to the doctors and crying like I’ve never seen her cry before. I get scared just by seeing him pale, with purple lips, with his eyes closed and breathing through the tube in his mouth. I walk out of the room. I hear the doctors saying “We need to get him to surgery, but I don’t think he’ll be able to make it.” My mom started breaking down in tears the doctors were telling her “You might want to start saying goodbye because there is a really good chance that he will die here in the operating room tonight.”
I heard that he was drunk and supposedly fell on a flower pot. He broke his ribs and had internal bleeding. A few minutes later he collapsed. Everyone thought that he was just drunk so they let him stay on the couch. But I guess someone thought that something was wrong so they dialed 911. Good thing, because if they would of waited 5 more minutes he would have been dead.
My uncle almost died that night. I never thought something like that would happen. Not to him. It was the night of the Super bowl. It was around 12:00 at night when my mom got the phone call. She answered the phone, I couldn’t hear what was happening but I knew it was something bad the moment I saw the look on her face. She hurried and hung up the phone, put a sweater on and ran out the door. I stayed in my room all night thinking about all the good times, all the bad times, funny and sad times.

"My Baby Cousin"

It was a Sunday morning and I was at home doing nothing at all and around 3:00 pm my mother got a call it was my aunt she said that she had give birth to a baby boy and to come over to the hospital to see it so we got in the car and headed to the hospital when we got there we ask my aunt where was the baby and my aunt said with the doctors and that she did not know how the baby was at this point so my mother asked me to go ask a doctor where the baby was and how was he so I looked for a doctor in the hallway and found a doctor he told me I could find the baby in the new born so I went there the people there told me that my aunt baby was in the emergency room and I ran to my mother and aunt to tell them what they told me and my mother and I went to the emergency room and there was my aunt baby half died!!!!!!!!

"The Baby" by Maria Olmos

He was so cute, so innocent. I was holding him in my arms, that day he closed his eyes and never woke up. That was the last time I held him close to me. I can still hear him crying for me every night. Even though he didn’t live that long I still see him lying down on my bed sleeping.
It was one day that my cousin came home crying, “what’s wrong?!” my aunt asked. She wouldn’t say nothing at all just tears came running down her cheeks. I was at the kitchen with my mom helping her make dinner. I heard my aunt yelling and crying at the same time, I didn’t know what was happening.
Later on that night I asked my cousin why was she was crying and why was my aunt yelling at her. It was silent for a minute, then she started crying, “I’m pregnant” she said. I was shocked, I never knew my cousin would get pregnant at this age, she was only 15 she was really shy, quiet, straight A’s person, and  it seemed like she lived in her own world. I didn’t say anything, I was speechless it seemed like I didn’t have a mouth to speak.
7 months pasted and one day we went to the doctor, after that my cousin told me seriously “if I have the baby I want you to keep it for a while maybe until he’s six months old.”  “What?!” I said almost yelling.  “ what you heard.” She said. I didn’t want to say anything because I didn’t want any problems.
Time pasted and my cousin had the baby.  We talked to the doctor because my cousin told us that the baby was sick. The doctor told us that the baby had this sickness (I forgot the name though.) and that he wasn’t going to live that long. Everybody in the room started crying and praying . l
Three months pasted and one day the baby wasn’t breathing I was scared and I yelled for help the baby was purple. My mom and I took the baby to the emergency room about two hours pasted and the doctor told us that he was sorry and that the baby had passed away. I started crying and my cousin did too well everybody.

"My Fall" by Anderson Ramirez

We went to this place that looked abanded. It looked like nobody has came here in a while. I looked around but nothing was there no playground, restrooms, trees no nothing. It was windy I and I would hear the wind. The wind was blowing hard sometimes but not all the time, it would rarely blow hard.
I always like going outside. But I saw this big rock. It was just in the middle of the field. I went up to the rock and it was tall. It was like three times the size of me. I felt like I was so small. It looked slippery and rough.
My cousin called me to go eat. After we ate, we just relaxed and listen to the wind. I felt relaxed, like I didn’t want to move but I had to go to the bathroom. When I went, I remembered about the rock so after I went to the bathroom. I went to go find the rock and I saw the rock again. I tried to climb it but it was wet for some reason. I went with my cousin then I would go come back when the rock was dry. So three hours later, I came back and the rock was dried. I got on the rock, when I got to the top, I was way high.
When I was one the tip of the rock, the wind suddenly stopped. I stayed on the rock for a little while then the wind was blowing harder than before. I tried to get off but the wind was hard. I fell off. My leg was in a lot of pain then I went away for some reason. When I standed up, my leg was in pain. So I still kept on walking. When finally I got to my cousin. I told about my leg. So we all went home. My cousin took me home. I told my mom,” Mom, my leg hurts really bad. I think it’s broken.” My mom laughs because she thought I was making this up.
Later that day, my mom took me to the hospital. The doctor told my mom that I had broken my leg. My mom was in shock. She told what happened. I told her the story then she said,” Oh.” So she took me home. I had to wait a month for my leg to get better. After my leg got better. My life was the way it was before.

"D.O.G."

My cousins & I were coming from the store 2 blocks away. It was warm; windy; & a sunny day. Kids were outside running around; riding their bikes writing on the side walk with chalk & chasing each other. It was a pretty.. crazy day. When we got home my cousins & I immediately noticed that Goffy was gone! We went inside to check if he was their but he was no were to be found. When my aunt & uncle came home we told them “Goffy’s gone we can’t find him anywhere. Then we all went to the police & told them what happened. We described him by saying that he was short & small; was brown; very friendly; & had a heart name tag. They said that they needed a picture of him & they would do anything they could to help us. This was 2 years ago & the never found him. Well that was my story & this is the end of it bye. Hope You enjoyed it.  This was my short story. Info: (this was not based on a true event so don’t worry or anything) The D.O.G doesn’t mean anything.

"A Bloody Story" by Myriam Hernandez

I was bleeding so much. I started to get nauseous. My cousins explained the problem to the check-out lady. Her face looked shocked I think. I really couldn’t see that good cause I was getting so dizzy from all the blood I lost.
30 minutes ago I was just fine. My aunt Nora brought us to the store to get some juice and snacks. My older cousin asked me and my other cousin if we wanted to play, and we both said “yea”. We started running from my older cousin.
Without looking I ran into the corner of a wooden box I fell to the ground. I felt my fore head and saw my hand it was covered in blood. Then I looked at the box, and it was also covered in my blood. My cousins ran to see me. They gasped as I think they thought I was dead but when they saw me move my hand they helped me up.
I started to think it was stupid to play tag any ways. One because there were saw dust and some nails were we were playing. Two my aunt told us not to do it but we did it anyways. I looked at the box and it was covered in blood some of it was even on the ground. I got very dizzy and fainted. I woke up with gauzes on my head and my clothes were still bloody. I couldn’t remember much thought .

"The Drama" by Maria Gastelum

The phone rings my mom answers the phone. My cousin Ada is on the other line and says “Check out the news” my mom says “Okay”. We put it on the news. My dad comes on with his head down, two police men are on the side of him. My dad says to me and my mom that “ I am very sorry for what I did and I will miss you”. This is at 6:00 am in the dark night sky the sun is rising.  My dad just loves to draw and sometimes when he sends letters he just draws and just gives us info about when he is okay and he is mostly having fun.
It seemed so sad when I seen my dad. The first thing that came to my mind were questions in my head. Where was he going? Was he going to be safe? When this moment happen I felt like a lost puppy. I got the answers like a month or two later. The lost puppy feeling was gone. I was like in my little own world. For this moment for me is WOW  How can this happen I asked. On this time in the lost puppy feeling it was like I outside in the grey and dark in the sadness. When they send my dad back to Mexico. I was just in scared when all this happen. I can only see him like once a year in the summer. The only way I can talk to him is letters and on the phone. I pray and hope I will see him once again.

"Soccer" by Hector Robles

My crisis is about soccer when I was in California and I was in a soccer team called FC Corona. I played defense in that team. Then came one day when we had a soccer tournament it was at 8:00 a.m.  so I had to sleep early to get a good night sleep and to be ready for the soccer game. Then came the day I woke up at 7:00 a.m. to get ready for the big tournament. I arrived at the park at 7:45. I and my team were warming up to face our opponents. They were called Chivas they were one of the best teams in our league. The game started it was a hard game for both sides. The first half of the game ended. I was exhausted I got a drink of water and got ready for the second half. The score was 0-0 it was a good game and a hard game. The second half started both sides were worn out after the second half ended. The score was still 0-0, so we went to penalties. They shot the firs penalty and they missed. We shot and we made it. The final score for penalties was 5-3. We won so that means we advance to the next round.  After our game ended another game started which was Pumas vs. Necaxa. This was another good game but at the end Pumas won the game. So that means they advanced to the finals. We had one more game to play if we wanted to be in the finals against Pumas. Our next opponent was a team called San Pancho they were a good team we only had beat them four times we were going for our fifth. The game started and we were ahead after the first half ended. It was 2-0 after the first half ended. The second half started and after it ended we won the game we advanced to the finals against Pumas. The final score was 3-2 it was a good and hard game. We beat them for the fifth time.

"Saved" by Gerardo Suarez

It was three in the morning I was short of breath and I woke up gasping for air.  The thought of dying was terrifying.  My bedroom was dark and empty but full of memories.  The bed I slept in was cold even though it was summer outside.  I was sleeping in my house with my father and little sister.  I went to go tell my father that I was feeling very bad, but I went back to sleep.  An hour later I woke up again this time I knew it was urgent that I told my father.
My sister and father got into the truck with me my dad said ‘’hurry’’.  So I got into the truck and tried to keep breathing then we got to the hospital’s emergency room, and there were children crying and moaning for help.  We told the emergency rooms nurse what happened and she took to a doctor fast.  The doctor told us that I could have died. I stayed in the hospital for three days, it was really cool to stay in the hospital and be pampered like a king until we got the bill, but I got to stay in there with all of

"Moving States" by Alejandra Guerrero

It was a nice sunny day in California. My mom had taken my two older brothers and me out of school. When my mom was pulling in to the drive way I saw my two aunts standing there with my grandma. When I got out of the car I saw my grandma crying. I gave her a hug and went inside to get my stuff and my dog.
When I came out my dad and my first older brother were putting stuff in the car and the moving truck. I asked my brother “Are you coming with us.” He said “No I’m not I’m going to be living with Mary for now.” Mary was his girlfriend that he was going out with for a while now. After my brothers said their goodbyes they put their stuff in the car and got in. I waited a little bit before I said my goodbyes then I said my goodbyes to my grandma and my aunts.
After my parents said goodbye they got in the car and we went to my uncles house to say goodbye to him. After that we all got in the car to start a life in Utah.

"Summer" by Ashley Clarke

He was lying on the floor. I couldn’t stand seeing him in pain so I walked away letting everyone do what they had to do. I called my sister for help and she called everyone else. I remember them all showing up one by one. First it was my sister Brean, then Juny, Eva, my mom, few minutes later the ambulance pulled up. I remember regretting even going.
One day over the summer it was a sunny, hot day. I woke up to a knock on the door, getting up confused I went to the door to see who it was, I peeked out the blinds seeing one of my friends, I went outside and said “Hello” with a response “Hi.” Me, my sister Carley, and my friends Ernesto, Esequiel, Sergio, and Juny went to hang out in my back yard, we were starting to get bored so Me, Ernesto and Esequiel went for a walk at the Utah State Fairgrounds. At the Fairgrounds there is a big field of grass with one building, The Gazebo. Me, Esequiel and Ernesto went to stand on it when Esequiel asked if Ernesto “could do a flip off?” Ernesto responded with a “No!” Esequiel started running towards the edge of the building, and did a flip.
Ernesto and I stood there in shock that he actually did the flip. We stood there waiting for Esequiel to come back up, but he didn’t. Esequiel finally said something but not something you want to hear. Esequiel started yelling in a calm voice “Call 911! I broke both my arms!” Me and Ernesto didn’t believe him because how calm he is. Ernesto and I started to walk to the edge we looked down and he was lying on the floor.
My mom took me and Ernesto back to my house so I could calm down. Carley came running in the front room telling me what was going on when I left, she told me “There taking him to Primary Children’s hospital, If you want to go you better hurry.” Carley and I Ran to Eva’s house to go with her. When Carley and I got there Eva was already in the car. We drove behind the ambulance all the way to primary hospital.
When we got to primary children we had to sit a while before we were told to do anything.  Finally we were told that Esequiel will have to go through surgery. Eva came out of the room to tell us what was going on, Eva took me, Carley, and Sergio back to our house. We waited for hours for Esequiel to come home, at 11:00 he finally came home. When I went outside I seen him in the passenger’s side with two casts on, I felt bad seeing he wouldn’t be able to do things by himself for a while.

"Let's Do It Again" by Caramia Owens

I was laying there in the mud at the bottom of the hill. I see my friends running up to me. My eyes, my hair, my jacket, my new shoes, ruined. There was mud everywhere. When I open my eyes I see my two besties running up asking me if I’m ok.
It was 12:00 in the morning. A couple of my friends and I went to a field that had a giant hill. It was drizzling rain, there was little rain, and it made it more colder then what it already was. I’m wearing my favorite party outfit skinnes and a tank top with converse. My friends are the crazy type, but not the weirdo way the funny way. At this point it was raining even more then what it was when we very first go there.
One of my besties her name is Lauren. She’s tall, she has dark brown puffy hair, and she is skinny but the healthy skinny. We do mostly everything together. We’ve been friend since we were 5. She is really crazy one out of the both of us. She runs up to me and my other bestie Cheyenne and says
“Omg!! Guys we should run down this hill. And the one who falls down first has to eat a wood chip.
“Yeah I guess. “ I say unsure about the whole thing.
“What about you Cheyenne?” Lauren and I say
At this point were at the top of the hill. I can fill my heart beating really fast.
“1,2,3 GO” we shot really loud
I’m running as fast as I can I start filling myself start to slip.(I hope I’m  don’t fall)I’m thinking to myself then bam I fell straight on my behind. Then I’m rolling down the hill at 45mph my head is starting to hurt. Then I start filling mud.
      “nooo!!” I yelled.
I’m laying there for 2 min then I see my two bffs
“Omg that was so fun let’s do it again.”

"Bit by a Dog" by Rafael Urcino

One day I was getting bit by a dog, and my sister really didn’t care because she thought that her TV show was more important. After a couple more painful seconds my mom pulls in the drive way, and yells the dogs name so he could get off of me. Then I told her what had happened she laughed a little bit. But she was still very mad at my sister so she went inside to talk to her, my mom said, ‘’ WHAT THE H*** WERE YOU THINKING JUST SITTING THERE LIKE A LAZY COW, WHY DIDN’T YOU HELP YOUR BROTHER “. Then I laughed a little bit. Later on my mom comes to talk to me and she told why did the dog bite you, I told her that I kept slapping him around because it was kind of funny, then she was telling me to get rid of it. I told her I didn’t want to and that I wouldn’t slap him around anymore she said she will think about it. A couple days later I had checked my leg where the dog had bit me it was looking much better. THEN I WENT BACK OUTSIDE TO CHECK WHAT THE DOG WAS DOING HE WAS PASSED OUT IN HIS DOG HOUSE.  THEN MY DAD CAME HOME FROM WORK AND HE TOLD MY MOM THAT I COULD KEEP THE DOG, ONCE I HEARD MY PARENTS SAY THAT I WAS SO EXCITED. SO WEEK LATER I WAS THINKING OF A NAME SO I CALLED HIM ROCKO, AND THEN HE NEVER BIT ME. THEN MY PARENTS ENDED UP LIKING ROCKO.

"My Great-Grandpa" by Anthony McMurrian

My great-grandpa would get up lots of times in the middle of the night waking up my Great-Aunt D’Alene. Then when she got up to use the bathroom she told great-grandpa what she was doing then when she got back from the bathroom my great-grandpa had stopped breathing and had died on the 12/09/10 Monday morning. On Thursday, 12/12/10 in the evening some of our family members came to my great-grandpa’s house, now the house belongs to my Great-Uncle Danny, and talk to each other and get to know each other. After that we went to the funeral on Saturday morning 12/14/10 the weather started out sunny and clear then later on in the afternoon it became cloudy and freezing cold. We saw some friends and family at the funeral my great-grandpa was in the coffin wearing his cowboy boots, clothes and he had his cowboy hat with him.
On the stands they had my great-grandpa’s bow on it because he was an outdoorsman he would go hunting when he had the chance. He would go hunting with his bow or with his gun. He loves to fish with his family and/or friends mostly with family. When I was about 6-7 years old he would teach me how to do archery because it is our family tradition that we never miss. He also taught me how to fish and both he and my grandpa taught me how to hunt. While me, my sister, and my brother are doing archery he would stand behind us giving us lots of good advice like before you let go just wait for one more second then release, and telling us to keep your bow hand steady. If we popped our balloons he would have his wallet out with a couple $1 bills out for us.
If he told you to do something you better do it. The last time I last saw him before he died was in the same hospital that I was born in all hooked up to wires that helped him to stay alive. One of the wires provided oxygen for him and the other would keep him hydrated. He would always need help to go to the bathroom, and when he was thirsty he would drink from a sponge that would be full with water.

"Untitled" by Thi Doan

I was helping my cousin with the officers, while my sister and her friend go take care of my other cousin.  We were in Downtown after watching Despicable me at Gateway mall, while I was in the car with my cousin.  My sister and her friend Triny go to my other cousin’s car named Marcella. We start to drive, then my cousin asks me “Thi, call Marcella and ask her where she wants to eat and when.”, I say “okay.” I call her, she picks up, while I was talking to her, all of a sudden I here screaming from the phone, then I turn over and see a huge truck hit my cousin’s car. I remember seeing my cousin getting out of the car puking all over; I guess she was in shock.
Me and my cousin jump out of the car and head over there. I was panicking; all I was thinking about was if they were okay and not hurt nor injured. The man in the truck gets out of his car and says “I’ll call the cops!” I don’t even respond. I open the door and see that my sister was all pale; I asked her if she and her friend were okay. They said yes. While my cousin was trying to calm down Marcella.
We start to hear sirens then from the corner of my eye, I see the cops and ambulance. They asked us if we were all okay, obviously we said yes. They cops were just asking us questions about what happened and if our parents knew that we were driving. This made a huge impact to my life, all I know is that your life could be taken away by the littlest things you do. And that don’t call anyone while they are driving.

"The Guy with a Knife"

It was a foggy night and cold to. My parents and I came back from a wedding like at 1:00 AM in the morning. There was no one outside and I was kind of scared. Then when we turned around we saw some gangster from different gangs punching each other. Suddenly on of then pulled out a knife my mom and I got scared so my dad told us to go back at the car, so we did and we were scared. Then from out of nowhere some other guys that didn’t bang came out of nowhere .my mom and I were watching the other guys taking down the gangsters one by one. Then they tried to run away but some of the other guys chase them, one of them almost escaped in car but he couldn’t cause one of the guys open his car door and to him to the floor. The other one tried to go to the road but the guy that was chasing him and tackle him down and made him bleed from the nose. Then the police came because some other people who were watching from their windows call to the police then the ambulance came. All the people came out of their apartments to see what had happen outside their blood in the cement. The other 2 guys were on the floor with hand coves then the my dad’s friends were laughing because one of the guys was crying and because some Tongans wanted the guys who were in jail dead because they killed one of the T.Z.G..

"The Time I Almost Burnt an Ally" by Carlos Vasquez

It was just a normal boring day I went to my friends house and we were just playing a game of football on the playstation 2 and after that we played another game of football and so we decided to go outside to jump on the trampoline and my friend said “let me bounce you up as high as I can “ ok I said so he did and I went up and when I came down I hit my face on the bar of the trampoline and it heart but it didn’t leave a brose then I went to my house and got a flower that was from the 4th of July and took it to his house and jump a little bit more and he told me to light it so I did and I didn’t know what to do with it I held on to it when it was on fire so he said “throw it” so I did and it landed in a pail of dry dead grass all the sudden boom big flames as tall as me so my friend grab the hoes and sprayed the fire to put it out it went out I was scared I didn’t know what to do. So then Anthony said “it’s a good thing we put it out cause if we didn’t the people across the street they would have called the cops and we were really got in trouble and all of us could have gone to  a detention center and stay for about 2-3 months  or even longer I was lucky that I didn’t get in trouble  and if I told my mom she would have grounded me for 2 months and beat me with the belt.

"The Monster Waves" by Vai Holani

It’s funny because she thought she’s cool jumping off the reef
A few years ago my family and I went swimming at the beach, it was cold when you first get inside, the waves were ruff going back and forth, and the turtles were out of the shells and in the water. My family loves going to the beach. We go on the reefs and jump on turtles, riding them like boards on the sea, and then we jump off the reef when big waves come in so we can get to shore easier. One day we went swimming and the waves were mad. My cousin decide to jump off the reefs again, (she loves to do dangerous stunts) we were like best friends to the end; we would climb trees, jump off the house, and always go to the beach. But on that day she thought she was cool for being the only one jumping off the reef. She would always tell us to come, but we were too sacred to go. Then we were going home and she decides to take a last jump, but that last jump the waves made a plan and took her out to sea. My family was laughing so hard our faces were red. Her hair was over her face so she’s choking on her hair and all            we see was a little black dot with arms screaming. Then my mom told me to go get her, but I was still laughing. So her brother went to go get her and when she got to shore she was crying like a baby and she wouldn’t shut up so we went to the movies after that.

"The Day I Jacked" by Kristina Chavarria

The day I jacked was at 7 Eleven. It was last year. It was me, my cousin, and his little brother. We went to the candy aisle got some candy, gum, and some other things put it in my bag, bought something so they won’t know we jacked. Left the store walked fast back to my house. Came back like 2 days later. We jacked more candy and gum but this time it was me and my cousin. Again we bought something so they won’t know. The day before that they had jacked so the glass door was broken. It felt pretty cool jacking but scared that we might get caught. We’ve never gotten caught.  I still do it with some of my friends but not anymore with my cousin. Out of all the things they sell their, we only stole gum and candy and the rest at other stores.

"My Story" by Ena Harambasic

It happened in the middle of Summer Vacation.
I was trying to sleep but I would always feel someone looking at me, when I open my eyes nothings there. I went back to sleep, but I woke up again around 5:30 in the morning; I saw an outline of something sitting on the edge of my bed. I jumped up and turned my lights on, when I did whatever was there is gone now.  After that day I never sleep with my lights off.  I talked to my mom about it but she didn’t believe, I mean, would you?
So, instead of sleeping in the living room every night she decided to switch me rooms with me. She took my old room and I took hers which was located in the downstairs area. From then on I slept like a baby. No complications, No disturbances, and defiantly No activity!
And ever since then, I have never even thought about that room. When my mom talked to me about her first night in my room, she actually got scared. My dad never really noticed because he was fast asleep.  My mom actually saw this little girl that she thought was me.
She described her like this: All white, white dress, white socks, white hair band, sad face expression.  After that talk, that night I crept into the room to see if I could see the little girl, my grandma was babysitting me that night, but like all old people, she was asleep in the living room.
I really wanted to find out about this little girl and I’d do anything to find out. But that night I found no evidence that she was even there. I didn’t want to be pushy about the situation but I wanted to know about the family that lived here first. So, my mom called an agent up and scheduled a meeting at our house.
The next morning he showed up with a lot of papers. I didn’t know how he works on this stuff but I thought he was a professional at this job. We sat down and talked, he said he never had a complaint of any haunting or weird things happening. But one unfamiliar family had a terrible crisis, a girl by the name of Marie had been very ill for a whole year! I didn’t know where he was taking this conversation but it was very interesting.
The story started out like this:
A family moved to Utah from Europe, They found this house that I was living in. They had 2 kids one girl, one boy, the girls name was Marie, the boys name was Daniel. Marie was very ill after they moved. The family thought America had better hospitals than Europe did. They didn’t know much English, but they knew enough to speak to the doctors. Marie had been in the hospital under high watch.
No one let her out of there sight, the family would come to see her over the weekends, Marie didn’t go to school. That night, the doctors said shes carrying a deadly virus, they parents had no choice but to take her home and watch out for her. On a very hot summery night, Marie died in her own room due to complications to from the virus. The room she died in was the roomy parents have, that I had. Ever since she died, she haunted that room. She never harmed her own family, but strangers she’d leave marks on their bodies.
She’d tap, scratch, throw something, speak, kill anyone who is a stranger to her. The only problem was she was 10 when she died, and the scary thing is I was 10. When the agent finished the story I was already in tears, the only warning he gave us was to be safe. Well, I don’t think we’ll be safe after all that.
After he left my mom wanted to forget about it and go out. I wanted to stay home and talk to the girl. So when my parents left, I walked into their room and tried talking to her.
Since I’m 10 and she was 10 when she died, I thought I would understand how she felt because were in that age group were we understand each other. So, I told her “I heard your story, and to be honest, I know how you might feel.” Nothing happened after I said that. Then I said “Can you please talk to me? I really want to know about you.”
After that I heard a loud tapping noise coming from the door, I was really scared but I knew if I left, I would be scared to even enter the house. That day it was so clear that the little girl was trapped in that room.  5 long months have passed and I never heard her again.
The day of our move, I put a bear in the center of the room. I felt really bad for

"The Time I Stole Something" by Patricia Hernandez

i was walking with my friends and we went to the store and we went to get something but we did not have any money so instead we stole some candy. The cashier was looking at us to see what we were doing. I was really nervous and scared. So when I took the candy I just walk out. I wanted to return it but I did not want them to call the cops on me so for stealing something.
When I left the store I was getting scared that they saw me steal. I was scared that the cops well come to my house. My mom did not know about what I did so I was scared that she would have found out. I went back to the store to go buy something the cashier keep looking at me and waiting tell I was done looking at stuff. I left the store and he just keep looking at me and looking at me.
I went to go steal something else I got more scared because the cashier knows who I was because he knew I stole something. Then after that I stop stealing and my mom found out so I got grounded for a long time. And it suck really bad.

Then her mom went back inside her house to clean her face but the girl was still throwing poop. Then she came back outside to stop her and she did. And took her inside to get her clean. And then we  all got ice cream and forgot about it. For a while.

I looked like I was dead lying there face down in the middle of the road.  The car kept going did not stop.  One summer day me and my friends went skateboarding.  At first we were having fun then we started to bet each other that we could do certain tricks.  I was in the middle of a kick flip and a car hit me.  The car was red it happened so fast I didn’t see it coming.  When it hit me I looked like it no intention of stopping.  It seemed like no one was driving.  Last thing I heard was my friend Edi yelling for my grandma “Bobbie come here someone just ran over McCade”.  My friend Edi I think was wearing a gray tank top and a pair of gym shorts.  My grandma came running out side with the phone and was about to call 911 when she saw me she dropped the phone and turned me a round.  She said all I really had broken was a couple of fingers and got a bloody nose.  All I know is that I was passed out for like five hours or so.  Still to this day I love to skateboard, play football, and basketball and that car every time I’m in the street I look for a red car that has no soul.  When it hit me it took my favorite skateboard with it from what I saw it looked like it was stuck to the hood of the car and I haven’t seen it ever since.  And it all happened at Stillwater apartments and I still go there every weekend and still skate there every time I go.

"One Minute" by Rosario Suarez

This all started when I was about 8 Years old on a hot summer afternoon. I had  just gotten out of school I went to go meet up with my grandma & my brother in front of some apartments where there was a pine tree and a huge rock under & right around the corner there was a UTA bus stop and a stop sign. We were just waiting for my cousin to meet with us. So once he got there my grandma’s phone rang & all of a sudden I just started getting this head & Stomach ache. I just heard my grandma say “Okay” in a really upsetting voice & when she was closing her phone she did it slowly. Then I asked her if everything was okay. When she told me that my parents got in a car accident & that my mom was in a really bad state. I felt even sicker I felt like if everything was just falling down on me.
When we got to the hospital I was just really anxious & frustrated of waiting. When I saw my dad I felt glad that he was alive. But the one that I really wanted to see was my mom.
Once I went into her room I ran towards her and gave her a hug I told her I love her & that I was always going to be there for her. That’s when I realized that I really did care for my parents & that they are the only most important thing in my life. It changed me because I just know that’s its tough going through times like that.
The only thing that I did for a whole month & a half was draw for my parents  I wanted to see a big smile on their face. This was a huge crisis for me because I couldn’t stand seeing them frustrated eating the same food & watching the same four walls all day. but the day came to when it was time to take them home I was glad that they were out of there, but they couldn’t do much they were still in pain to I was still upset.

"When Carlos Got Shot"

One night me & my friends were sleeping in the front yard. A guy passed by my house & I pretended to sleep. I was the only one wake though. I saw he had a gun with him. He looked over at me. My eyes were slightly shut. So I got up to see where he was going & he was going over to Carlos’s house. I was watching him to know what he is doing. He knocked on the door. And he came out. So they were talking for a long time. I started to get tired. So I closed my eyes for a little bit. I wake up not tired any more they were still talking. So I just laded down and looked up at the stars. I was making shapes out of the stars and even found some constellations like the bid dipper. Then I heard yelling coming for Carlos’s house. I got up to see what was going on then the guy pulled the gun on him. I gasped. He heard me so I got down as fast as I could. He was wandering who was there. He looked around and he ever called out ‘whose there?’ I didn’t answer at all. Then Carlos said something to get him mad and BOOM he got shot. There was a lot of blood on the walls and the floor. I ran inside to wake my mom dad up. “Mom, dad! Carlos got shot right in front of me” I said to them. They got up as quickly as they can. They ran outside to see if it was true. It was and the killer got away.

"The Jump" by Uriel Martinez

“Run!” yells my friend “you can do it!” I start to jog….but stop half way, I turn and look back, I’m on a roof, there’s trees around me I start walking back, and I stop again but this time on the other side of the roof.  “Here I go” I mumble to myself “I can do this,” I start to run for the edge of the roof as fast as I can, I can see the edge now, I jump. . . . I past a half broken fence, I feel like I’m flying once I hit the floor, I don’t feel anything so I try to stand up, I can’t feel my left foot I didn’t think it was a big problem so I try walking forward, I start falling instead, I try my hardest to sit up right, once I’m laying down I yell at my friends to see if it was normal to not fell my foot, the run towards me and start helping me up, and took me home. Once I got home my dad found out about it, I told him I fell of a roof he got lotion and started to move it back in place it hurt, I could feel my bones moving under my skin, at that moment I decided I wouldn’t climb houses again.
